Status report: The dawning of Danish bio-economy

Our latest status report is now available in English. The report was originally published (in Danish) in August 2015

MAABJERG ENERGY CENTER WILL PRODUCE 80 MILLION LITRES OF BIOETHANOL AND 50 MILLION CUBIC METRES OF BIOGAS

MEC is establishing a second-generation bioethanol plant in Måbjerg, a rural area between the Danish towns Holstebro and Struer. It is simultaneously planning to significantly increase the biogas production at MEC Biogas (formerly "Maabjerg BioEnergy") and to rebuild the biomass fuelled cogeneration plant MEC BioHeat&Power (formerly "Måbjergværket").

MEC will be producing 80 million litres of bioethanol and 50 cubic metres of biogas - the greater part of which will be purified and upgraded to the same quality as natural gas (sustainable natural gas), as well as producing electricity and district heating corresponding to the energy need of 25 000 households.

We are hoping for the political framework conditions to be agreed upon soon, so as to begin the 2G-bioethanol production by 2018.
